Plain Basamati Rice

The all important staple to have in your recipe book is plain rice.

Now my method may not sound scientific but I promise you it works every single time.

Rice should be fluffy and cooked definitely not soaked in water that you need to drain out.

Ingredients

1 ½ Cup Basamati Rice
2 ½ Cup Water
1 Tbsp Oil

Method

1. Wash the rice to remove as much starch as possible. ⁣

(I measured out the water for the recipe but usually in a saucepan full of rice, usually if you put your index finger into the water, just above the rice it should come up to the first line of your finger – magically this always works).

2. Add the water and cook on high heat until bubbles form and start to rise. ⁣
3. Add the oil, cover and reduce the heat to low-medium and cook for 10 mins.⁣
4. Keep the rice covered for a further 10 mins and let the steam cook it further. ⁣
