Pitta Bread

Well you can’t have hummus on it’s own!

Follow this super quick recipe and whip up a batch today, you won’t regret it.

These came out so soft, puffed up so well and melt in your mouth… drool!!

I mixed half plain flour and half whole meal. This recipe makes 4 large pitta’s.

Prep Time

30 mins

+ 1 hr proving

Cook Time

6 mins

Serves

4

Ingredients

250g Plain Flour & Whole meal Flour  (50:50)
1 Sachet Instant Yeast
1 Tsp Himalayan Salt
1 Tsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Olive Oil

Warm Water for binding

Method

  1. Mix all the ingredients together and bind the dough with warm water – add a little at a time until you have a soft well combined dough.
  2. Knead for a few minutes.
  3. Oil a bowl and place the dough in it. Cover with a damp cloth and place in a warm area for an hour.
  4. After the hour split the dough into 4 balls, cover and let it rise in a warm place for a further 15 mins.
  5. Preheat the oven at 250C. Keep the baking trays in the oven (you want them already hot).
  6. Take the dough balls and on a well floured surface roll out into large ovals.
  7. Place on the oven trays flour side up (I actually used pizza trays as the holes help circulate the heat faster).
  8. Bake in the oven for 4 – 6 mins or until they are light brown and risen.

Serve up hot or keep covered with a damp cloth until your ready to tuck in.
