Baked Namakpara

Diwali is celebrated with beautiful prayers, bright lights, dazzling colours and of course delicious food. From snacks to sweets to full Thalis.

I want to share with you a simple snack that you can grab with a cup of tea and you’ll find it in almost every Indian household, especially around Diwali.

This is usually fried but I’ve baked it and absolutely love the crispiness of the bite!

Ingredients

200g Wholemeal Flour

½ Tsp Red Chilli Powder

½ Tsp Turmeric Powder

½ Tsp Asafoetida Powder

1 Tsp Cumin Seeds

½  Tsp Carom Seeds

2 Tbsp Oil

1 Tsp Himalayan Salt

Method

1. Preheat oven 180°C and line a baking tray.
2. Mix together all ingredients and using warm water knead into a firm but rollable dough.
3. Divide the dough in two and roll out to ½ cm thickness.
4. Cut up into small diamonds and bake for 16mins.
5. Let it cool and enjoy with a nice cup of masala tea.
